Scholar Athlete: Christopher Silva, Holy Cross

SAN ANTONIO – What are you most excited about for your senior year and why?
What I'm most excited about for senior year is coming back to another football season with my teammates and having one last chance to pretty much leave everything out on the field. Another reason why I'm so excited for senior year is because I will be getting ready for the next chapter in my life which is college.

What drives you to be successful in the classroom and in your particular sport?
What drives me to be successful in the classroom as well as athletically are my parents. They have always been extremely supportive in everything I participated in and It pushes me to give my best whether it's on or off the field.

How do you balance homework, participation in sports and spending time with family and friends?
It can be tough to balance homework, sports, and time with my family and friends. What has helped me is managing my time appropriately. My parents have always instilled into my sister and I that there's a time for school, there's a time for sports, and there's a time to be with your friends. They expect me to prioritize everything I do accordingly, which means academics is always at the very top of the list. What also helps is my friends and family both know how important my grades are so they understand that sometimes I may not be able to spend time with them if I have a test or project coming up. It makes it a whole lot easier.

How do you want to be remembered at school once you graduate?
The way I would like to be remembered when I graduate is being a person that people saw as a role model and a being a good example for the underclass men coming up once I have graduated. Knowing that there are younger freshmen who see what I am doing gives me more motivation to make the right decisions and do my very best at anything I do.

If you could have one super hero power, what would it be and why?
If I could have one superpower it would probably be time manipulation. This year is my senior year and I have made the best of every practice, game, and school event. I chose this power simply because I would love to relive past memories I have made over the past that I would like to witness again.

If you could take any athlete or celebrity to your senior prom, who would it be and why?
If I wanted to take a celebrity to Prom, I'd want to take Taylor Swift. I have been fond of her music mainly from my sister who listens to her. After researching her background, I realized how much of a down to earth women she truly was. She was one of the few female celebrities that has not allowed her personality to change after becoming very well known at what she does.
