Scholar Athlete: Emily Dewalt, Brandeis

What are you most excited about for your senior year and why?
For my senior year, I am most looking forward to the last pep-rallies, last game-days, last homecoming, and senior prom.

What drives you to be successful in the classroom and in your particular sport?
Not only does self-pride drive me to be the best that I can be both in the classroom and in volleyball, but knowing that I am a role model to the underclassmen also pushes me as well.

How do you balance homework, participation in sports and spending time with family and friends?
Honestly, it is very difficult but I am very fortunate to have friends and family that are very supportive of me and that understand the amount of time it takes not only to be a great athlete but a great student as well.

How do you want to be remembered at school once you graduate?
As a hard worker and unselfish leader.

Where do you want to attend college, major in and why?
I plan to attend Texas State University to major in chemistry. I chose Texas State because I want to enter the career field of forensics science and they have one of the best forensic science programs in the nation. I also chose Texas State because I was given the opportunity to continue my volleyball career and the coaching staff there is amazing.

If you could have one super hero power, what would it be and why?
If I could have one super power I would choose for it to be the ability to fly because it would be a huge time saver (I wouldn't have to sit in traffic).

If you could take any athlete or celebrity to your senior prom, who would it be and why?
I would take Jason Witten with me to prom because not only is he a great person but he also exhibits what it is like to be an athlete and a family man all in one.
