Scholar Athlete: Joe Ryan Salazar, Kennedy High School

SAN ANTONIOWhat are you most excited about for your senior year and why?

I am most excited to walk across stage and look at all my peers to see the achievements of us all for the challenges we had to overcome.

What drives you to be successful in the classroom and in your particular sport?

The thing that drives me to excel in and out of the classroom is my peers. I feel that if I show them that I can do it maybe in a little way they can do it also. I am here to push and better everyone around me to get better as well.

How do you balance homework, participation in sports and spending time with family and friends?

The one thing that helps me juggle all my loads of assignments and extracurricular activities is my support from my mother and family. Also a part by me being so ambitious and wanting to be the best I can possibly be.

How do you want to be remembered at school once you graduate?

After I graduate, I hope to be remembered as a hard worker and a person that always persevered no matter what obstacle came my way.

Where do you want to attend college, major in and why?

I plan to attend college and study bioengineering because I have a strong passion for biology and the functions of DNA to help others around the world.

If you could take any athlete or celebrity to your senior prom, who would it be and why?

If I could bring any celebrity to prom it would be Neil DeGrasse Tyson to maybe talk about the cosmos and confuse my peers along the way.
