SAN ANTONIO – For the first time since opening night for the 1997-98 season season, there will not be a member of the big three in a Spurs uniform for the opening tip. No Tim Duncan, no Tony Parker and no Manu Ginobili.

But since time doesn't stand still, it's time to move on to the next generation of Spurs now led by DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge.

This will be the first opener for DeRozan in a Spurs uniform.

"Like a kid in a candy store that shouldn't be eating candy, so to speak," DeRozan said.

It's not hard to understand what he means after being traded over the summer to the Spurs from Toronto for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. It is a new kind of excitement for DeRozan.

"It's a new situation, new feeling, new everything," Derozan said "everthing is going to be completly new this go around."

The excitement may be knew for DeRozan but for some of the other guys like Davis Bertans it may be the same uniform, same arena and same time, but opening night is still pretty exciting.

"We are still ready to start strong and go get that win tonight," Bertans said.

No Dejounte Murray, no Lonnie Walker IV and no Derrick White, so there can't be a let down especially at the point guard position now taken over by Bryn Forbes.

"He is playing with a lot of confidence and right now," said Bertans.

"Just being ready, myself and everybody else," said DeRozan.
