There are conflicting reports as to whether the Spurs and Simmons are negotiating a new deal, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Simmons is now talking to several teams on the market and there is no assurance he will return to the Spurs.

As a restricted free agent, the Spurs had the right to match any other team’s offer. Simmons can now sign with any team he wants without the Spurs having the right to match the offer.

Simmons has been with the Spurs for two years after working his way up from the developmental league.

He averaged 6.2 points per game during the 2016-17 regular season. However, he broke out in the playoffs and averaged 10.5 points per game as the Spurs struggled with injuries to Tony Parker and Kawhi Leonard.
