Cowboys struggle on the road, lose to Broncos 42-17

Dallas plays next Monday night at Arizona Cardinals

DENVER – Outplayed in all phases of the game, the Dallas Cowboys took one on the chin Sunday losing to the Denver Broncos 42-17 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

“Obviously you give them lot of credit. It’s a good football team," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said. "They are good on offense, they are good on defense and they are good in the kicking game. We did not play up to our standard and obviously they controlled the game really from start to finish."

The Cowboys (1-1) looked nothing like the team that dominated the New York Giants in week one. Offensively they struggled against the Broncos defense considered by some the best in the NFL.

“I don’t feel like that was us. We didn’t go out there and we didn’t execute the way we normally do," Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said. "It was a good defense we played and I give them all the credit. They did a good job of matching us up and throwing everything they did at us but I think for the most part, we weren’t ourselves today.”

On defense the Cowboys were equally inept, allowing Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian to tie his career-high with four touchdown passes. Running back C.J. Anderson rushed for 118 yards and two total touchdowns.

“It was us. We weren’t doing our jobs, said linebacker Jaylon Smith. "As a defense, you have to play collectively and when we do that we’re successful. But when you don’t all it takes is one person to mess up and it creates havoc. We knew were going against a great team.

Dallas will look to bounce back next Monday night at the Arizona Cardinals.
