SAN ANTONIO – Here we go again. San Antonio and the Raiders are being mentioned as possible partners, but this time on a temporary basis.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora wrote the NFL and the Raiders have identified the Alamodome as a possible temporary home if the city of Oakland forces the team to leave before the franchise makes a permanent move to Las Vegas.

NFL owners voted on Monday to allow owner Mark Davis to move the Raiders to Las Vegas after Davis and the city could not come an agreement on funding for a new stadium in the Bay Area.

For years Davis had threatened to move the franchise if a new stadium was not built.

San Antonio officials courted Davis in the past in an attempt to get the Raiders to move to the South Texas area, but in the end, the NFL decided Las Vegas would be a better future home for the franchise if funding was secured for a new stadium.

The problem. Las Vegas has not broken ground on the stadium, leaving the Raiders in limbo in Oakland.

Davis said he wants to stay in Oakland until the Las Vegas stadium is built, which could be in 2020, but some Oakland city officials have said they want the team to leave as soon as possible.

Councilman Larry Reid is consulting with city attorneys to review the lease and see if there is a legal way to kick the Raiders out of the Oakland Coliseum before their lease ends, according to the East Bay Times.

If the Raiders are forced out of Oakland, La Canfora reports high ranking league officials believe San Antonio would be a viable short-term solution.

The Alamodome is currently undergoing close to $45 million in renovations and has hosted NFL and several college football games.

There are other options, however, include UNLV’s football stadium or the possibility of the Raiders sharing the San Francisco 49ers stadium in Santa Clara.

Another option is the team temporary playing in San Diego’s vacated stadium due to the Raiders large fan base in Southern California.

Fan support is another concern. Will Raiders fans in Oakland still support the team? Will fans in San Antonio support the Raiders knowing their stay is only temporary?

Everything remains up in the air as the Raiders make the move to Sin City.

Answer our poll question below: Would you support the Raiders if the team moved to San Antonio temporarily.
