SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio has seen their season and record go up and down in waves.
The storyline for SAFC since the summer has been winning streaks followed by losing streaks.
SAFC is currently on a two-game winning streak and hoping to make it three with their final game of the regular season.
San Antonio has won three straight at home, and Saturday night's game at Toyota Field will need the same result or the season is over. Here's what needs to happen for San Antonio to advance to the postseason:
Know Your Foe: Saint Louis FC
Saint Louis FC has a pretty impressive home record this season, and they added to it this week. They defeated the Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Wednesday 1-nil, making it seven wins in a row at home and improving their home record to 10-2-4. The victory, along with those three points, has Saint Louis FC ranked seventh in the West. They host the OKC Energy FC on Saturday night, a team they already defeated this season.
Mixing It Up: Swope Park Rangers
The Saint Louis victory this week has mixed things up in the standings and has the Swope Park Rangers currently ranked eighth, moving San Antonio down one to ninth and currently out of the playoff picture. Swope Park will conclude their regular season on Sunday afternoon when they host LA Galaxy II. Both teams played each other in August, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The Galaxy II, like the OKC Energy, have already been eliminated from the playoffs. Swope Park is 9-3-3 at home this season.
Protect Toyota Field
To make the playoffs, San Antonio has to win Saturday, plain and simple. But they will need a little help. Saint Louis FC only needs to earn one point to clinch a playoff spot. Along with an SAFC victory, San Antonio would need Saint Louis to loss or draw on Saturday, or they would need Swope Park to lose or draw on Sunday. Should San Antonio record a draw on Saturday, they could only make the post season with a Swope Park loss.
Saturday's regular season finale will be fan appreciation night, where fans can enjoy $1 beer and sodas throughout the match. There will also be giveaways and a postgame party with live music and drink specials.
