Meteorologist Mike Osterhage handles the weather forecasting duties for "Good Morning San Antonio" and joined the SA Live team as co-host in December of 2016.
He's been getting up well before the sun rises since 2001.
"It never ceases to amaze people when I tell them my alarm goes off at 2:30am!," Mike said.
Mike has the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval. He received his meteorology degree from Mississippi State University and has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. Mike also attended Western Michigan University.
Mike grew up in suburban Detroit and made it to Texas with stops along the way at WHBQ in Memphis, WLUK in Green Bay and WEYI in Flint, Mich.
Mike said another benefit of working mornings is having time to be with his family.
"We have two fast-growing boys and try to attend all of their activities," Mike said.
Along with being active at his sons' school, Mike is a Cub Scout leader, a baseball coach and volunteers in the community. Mike is on the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Zoo and Alamo Heights Little League. He was a former board member of the Animal Defense League and the National Kidney Foundation of South and Central Texas. As an Eagle Scout, Mike is active with Scouts and is Master of Ceremonies at their annual awards dinner. He has also been an emcee at other organizations' dinners, including Roy Mass Youth Alternatives, National Kidney Foundation, The Zoo Ball and The Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant.
During his TV career, Mike has covered many stories, has interviewed politicians and celebrities, and spoken to scores of school kids. But he said the highlight of his professional career definitely has to be the 9G flight he took with the USAF Thunderbirds!
