SAN ANTONIO – A new energy partnership and innovation center – or EPIcenter – held its first Internet of things summit in the Alamo City on Thursday.
Local leaders in the tech sector gathered at the Pearl Stable to discuss how technology and energy are affecting people and businesses in San Antonio.

The summit showcased how businesses such as CPS Energy have success.
The CEO of EPIcenter said with things like renewable energy and advanced technology being such a big part of everyday life it's time other businesses start investing in their future.

"Today, you may have a Nest-thermostat (whereas) before you had to actually change your thermostat manually,” Kimberly Britton said. “Those minor things are just small micro-causes of what's happening on a global scale."
Currently, plans for the EPIcenter call for the conversion of the century-old power plant near the Mission Reach Project along the San Antonio River into a data storage facility.
