It's been quite a day.โThe Mavericks released a statement from Cuban while acknowledging the club would return to playing the anthem. โWe have no problem playing the national anthem at all,โ Cuban said. โI stand for the national anthem.

This comes after Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban confirmed on Tuesday that he decided before the start of the regular season not to play the national anthem before home games. The leagueโs statement was issued by NBA Chief Communications Officer Mike Bass. AdCuban was outspoken against critics of NBA players and coaches kneeling during โThe Star-Spangled Bannerโ when the 2019-20 season resumed in the bubble in Florida last summer. San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and assistant coach Becky Hammon stood during the national anthem in the bubble while players and other staff members kneeled.

DALLAS (AP) โ Luka Doncic returned to the Dallas lineup after missing four games to injury and scored 24 points to help the Mavericks beat the San Antonio Spurs 102-98 on Thursday night. After Doncic missed two free throws, the Spursโ Derrick White missed a 3-point attempt with six seconds left and Doncic got the rebound. Dallas broke away from a 47-47 tie with the last five points in the second quarter for a 52-47 halftime lead. San Antonio scored the last eight points, including two 3-pointers by Gay, to go into the fourth quarter down just 79-74. On a positive note, San Antonio held Dallas to 2 for 10 (20 percent) during that time.
