Huge fire at far North Bexar County apartment complex still smoldering
SAN ANTONIO โ A fire that destroyed an entire apartment building in far North Bexar County is continuing to smolder. The fire broke out around 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cortland View at TPC apartments, located in the 4000 block of TPC Parkway. AdA fire department supervisor told KSAT Friday morning that a total of 130 apartments had been damaged or destroyed. Firefighters say water outages in the area left the fire hydrants inside the apartment complex dry. Investigators with the Bexar County Fire Marshalโs office will be looking into the cause of the fire once it is extinguished.
Apartment building on North Side collapses following large fire
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ It has been more than 14 hours and counting for firefighters battling a fire at an apartment complex in far North Bexar County. The fire started around 1 p.m. Thursday at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of TPC Parkway. Residents said they had received an alert to turn off their water heater, and moments later, a fire erupted on the second floor of an apartment building in the complex, officials said. Bexar County fire officials say 50 residents were evacuated from the building. San Antonio firefighters are working to extinguish a large apartment fire on the North Side.
Man dies from possible cold exposure in North Bexar County, Sheriff Salazar says
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Sheriffโs Office is investigating after a 78-year-old man was found dead outside his North Bexar County home, possibly due to exposure from the cold. The woman said the man, who had existing medical conditions, was supposed to have left for a medical appointment. It is unclear if the man experienced a medical episode, however, itโs possible the cold weather may have contributed to his death, Salazar told KSAT. San Antonio has stayed below freezing temperatures during the winter storm that has brought freezing rain, snow and ice since the weekend. The bitter cold will continue in San Antonio and a chance of freezing rain will return on Tuesday night.
Fire forces family to evacuate home, causes $185K in damage, fire officials say
SAN ANTONIO โ A San Antonio family safely escaped a late-night two-story house fire in the cityโs Northside , but the fire caused extensive damage to their home, fire officials said Wednesday. Firefighters said they arrived to find flames coming from the second level of the two-story home. Initial reports were that a child was trapped inside, but when they arrived everyone including the pets had made it safely out, fire officials said. The Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department said they received help from surrounding fire departments including Shavano Park, Camp Bullis, and Spring Branch. A family member told KSAT the family who lived at the home are staying with a relative.
Westbound I-10 at Fair Oaks Parkway open following deadly hit-and-run accident
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ A deadly hit and run accident closed Interstate 10 at Fair Oaks Parkway in far North Bexar County for several hours Thursday morning before opening shortly before 7 a.m., authorities said. The accident was reported around 3:45 a.m.James Keith, a spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said a woman told them the pair had car trouble and pulled over to the side of the road. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said they only have a vague description of the vehicle and that the man was hit by a black truck. The Bexar County Sheriff's office has not released any information on the identify of the victim and the crash is still under investigation. Westbound I-10 in the area of Fair Oaks Parkway has since reopened in Northwest Bexar County.
