1 dead, 1 injured in motorcycle crash on North Side

Accident occurred just before 9 p.m. in 3800 block of West Ave

SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead and another injured in a motorcycle crash with a sport utility vehicle overnight, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The accident occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 3800 block of West Avenue, located near Jackson Keller Road on the city's North Side.

Police said a small SUV was heading southbound when turned in front of the motorcycle. Both the driver and the passenger of the motorcycle fell off the bike hitting the pavement in the collision of vehicles, police said. The passenger, a woman, died at the scene.

Neither person on the bike was wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver was taken to University Hospital in critical condition with a head injury.

The driver of the SUV told police he did not see the motorcycle. 

There is no word on if the driver of the SUV will face any charges.
