Driver crashes into utility pole on South Side

Man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

SAN ANTONIO – A driver crashed into a utility pole overnight forcing a road closure, San Antonio police said Monday morning.

The accident was reported around 2:45 a.m. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Roosevelt Road on the city's South Side. 

Police said the car lost control on a curve while heading north. The car hit a utility pole, snapping it in half. Police said the car then went through a parking lot and into a chain link fence.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The block of road between McMullen Street and Hansford Street was closed for several hours as CPS crews worked in the area.

It is not known at this time if the driver will face any charges.

The crash is still under investigation.
