SAPD: Speeding car hits VIA bus on city's North Side

Incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Allena Drive near Burwood Lane

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a speeding car crashed into VIA bus Monday morning on the city's North Side.

The accident was reported just before 8 a.m. on Allena Drive near Burwood Lane, not far from Olmos Elementary School.

According to police, the speeding car was heading east in the 300 block of Burwood Lane. Police said the driver of the car attempted to stop at the intersection of Allena Drive but could not stop in time, hitting the VIA bus.

Police said the bus had four passengers on it. No one in either vehicle was hurt. 

Police added the car driver had a pit bull puppy in his lap and the dog was injured by the airbag. 

At this time it is not known what, if any, charges the driver may face. The investigation is on-going.

The accident was originally reported to KSAT 12 as a pedestrian involved accident.
