Driver dies in fiery SUV crash on Northeast Side

Incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Monday

SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead from a fiery crash on the city's Northeast Side, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The crash occurred just after 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said the driver of a Lincoln Navigator lost control on Loop 410 near Springfield Road just before crashing into a drainage ditch.

Police said the sport utility vehicle burst into flames, trapping the driver inside.

Firefighters at the scene said it looked like the driver attempted to get out but was unable to do so.

Police said they are working on identifying the victim and trying to figure out what caused the vehicle to crash.
