SAPD: Wrong-way driver arrested overnight

Incident occurred just before midnight Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO – A woman suspected of driving while intoxicated was caught driving the wrong-way on southbound Interstate 35, San Antonio police said Thursday.

Police said just before midnight the driver managed to drive through downtown heading northbound on the wrong side of the highway. When the driver reached North New Braunfels Avenue however she sideswiped a tow truck, but the collision didn't stop her.

The woman continued to drive until she nearly hit a police officer, who eventually managed to pull her over.

The woman was taken to University Hospital.

Police said charges are pending.
