Police arrest alleged wrong-way driver, seek another who ran from crash scene

Alleged wrong-way driver arrested on suspicion of DWI

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are seeking a driver involved in a three-car crash on the city's East Side and arrested another driver in a separate incident before anyone else could be hurt.

The first incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of South Walters Street and Martin Luther King Drive.

Police said a driver ran a red light and hit another car that spun around and hit a third vehicle.

One person in one of the other vehicles was transported to a hospital after he complained about pain caused by the car's air bags, police said.

The driver who ran a red light got out of his car and ran away, police said.

In a separate case, officers stopped a driver who they saw heading the wrong way on Highway 281 around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers at the scene said the driver nearly hit a patrol car before they stopped him near the Hildebrand exit.

Police said they administered a field sobriety test and arrested the man on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The driver involved in the East Side crash could face a list of charges if he's caught.
