SAPD arrests wrong-way driver

SAN ANTONIO – A wrong-way driver was arrested Wednesday morning after he nearly crashed head-on into a police officer.

It happened around 2 a.m. on Highway 281 north.

The officer said he was driving in the fast lane when he saw headlights coming straight at him. The officer moved out of the way before he was hit and immediately put out a description for the SUV.

Shortly after, police found the driver of the SUV on the exit ramp of Hilderbrand Avenue and pulled him over.

Police conducted a field sobriety test, which the driver failed. He was arrested and charged with DWI.
