An 18-wheeler dragged a car that was pinned underneath the big rig on Highway 281 South for nearly a quarter of a mile, Bexar County sheriff's deputies said.
The big rig was headed south on Highway 281 around 6:30 a.m., when a car entering the highway from Borgfeld Road hit the big rig and got pinned underneath it.
The 18-wheeler dragged the car until another driver alerted him about it, deputies said. The big rig driver thought he had a blown tire and had planned to exit Bulverde Road to investigate, deputies said.
The driver of the car was taken to University Hospital with head and neck injuries but was alert at the time of transport.
Traffic was reduced to one lane on Highway 281 but has since reopened.
