Driver crashes into headstones at West Side cemetery

Paul Daniel Rangel arrested on suspicion of DWI

SAN ANTONIO – A 48-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of DWI after he crashed into some headstones at a West Side cemetery, San Antonio police said.

The accident was reported around 1:15 a.m. at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2 at Castroville and General McMullen roads.

According to police, Paul Daniel Rangel lost control of his pickup truck and hit another car that was stopped at a traffic light. The truck jumped a curb, went through a fence and damaged about four headstones.

Rangel was arrested and charged with DWI. He was being held in the Bexar County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

The other driver was not injured.
