Off-duty officer taken to hospital following car crash

Driver was taken to SAMMC in stable condition

SAN ANTONIO – An off-duty police officer was taken to the hospital after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed, San Antonio police said Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound Loop 410 entrance ramp near Harry Wurzbach Road, on the city's North Side.

Police said the SAPD officer had just gotten off of work and was headed home in his personal car when he got into the one-vehicle accident.

Officials at the scene said he simply lost control on the wet road. The front airbags in the car did deploy, but police said the officer felt the full-impact of the crash.

The officer was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in stable condition.
