Medical examiner identifies pedestrian killed by car

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the name of the man killed in a traffic accident overnight.

Danny Chapman, 57, was killed Aug. 8 when he was hit by a car attempting to cross a street.

According to police, the vehicle was leaving an old Albertsons parking lot and did not see Chapman in the middle of the street.

The driver did stop to render aid and will not be facing any charges, police said.

Chapman was taken to University Hospital where he later died.

A man is dead after being hit by a car overnight, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday on Blanco Road near West Avenue.

According to police, a driver was leaving an old Albertsons parking lot and did not see the pedestrian in the middle of the street, slamming their vehicle into him.

The driver did try and stop to render aid, police said.

The victim was taken to University Hospital where he later died.

The man's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
