Original Story:

An 18-wheeler crashed Tuesday afternoon closing a portion of a busy San Antonio interstate.

The big rig was traveling from eastbound Loop 410 onto southbound on Interstate 37 when witnesses told police the truck driver hit a puddle of water on the road, lost control and hit a guardrail.

All lanes of I-37 have been closed and hazmat is at the scene to clean up a diesel spill.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

San Antonio police said it will take several hours to get all lanes back open. The Texas Department of Transportation said drivers should use Spur 122 South instead of I-37 South.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
