Car hydroplanes, splits in two after crashing into median, police say

Accident just before 5 a.m. on Highway 90 near Leon Creek

SAN ANTONIO – A driver was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning following a dangerous car crash overnight, San Antonio police said.

Police said the driver was heading east on Highway 90 near Leon Creek around 4:50 a.m. when he hydroplaned and crashed into the median.

Police said the driver's car broke apart with half of it up on the highway, and the other half landing on the ground under the highway. The driver was in the portion that fell off the highway, police said.

The driver was alert and was talking when he was taken to an area hospital with head trauma, police said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
