Police said the 18-wheeler hauling cotton was headed westbound on Loop 1604 when the trailer started fish-tailing because of the wet roads. That's when, police said, the driver lost control and went over the grassy median and into the mud before flipping onto its side.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was able to get out of the rolled vehicle and was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, police said.

The 18-wheeler was cleared from the highway just after 5:30 a.m. The road has since reopened.
