Passenger killed in NW Side crash identified

Edwin Gonzalez, 24, died as a result of accident on Potranco Road

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the name of the passenger killed in a vehicle crash on the city's Northwest Side.

Edwin Gonzalez, 24, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by another vehicle around 1:30 p.m. in the 8100 block of Potranco Road. 

Police said the accident occurred near the intersection of West Military Drive, and that witnesses told them that the light appeared to be changing colors at the time of the collision.

The driver of the car that was hit was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

The other two people inside the car were taken to University Hospital, but are expected to be OK, police said.

Police said a passenger was killed and three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on San Antonio’s Northwest Side Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the 8100 block of Potranco Road, near the intersection of West Military Drive.

Police said the driver of a car was attempting to turn when it was T-boned by another vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene told officers it appeared the light was changing colors at the time of the collision, police said. The department’s Traffic Investigation Division is investigating.

The driver of the car that was hit was taken to University Hospital in serious condition. The passenger was also transported but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The two people inside the other car were taken to University, but were expected to be OK, police said.
