Motorcyclist in critical condition after crashing into SUV, police say

Accident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Bandera Road near Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO – A man is in critical condition after slamming his motorcycle into the back of a sport utility vehicle Monday night, San Antonio police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Bandera Road near Loop 1604 on the city's Northwest Side.

Police said they saw the motorcyclist take off from a traffic light too fast. The motorcyclist was going roughly 60 miles per hour when he hit the back of the SUV, police said.

Police said the man hit the vehicle so hard that his helmet came off. The 26-year-old was taken to University Hospital for his injuries.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt, police said.
