Car hits natural gas main; Bandera Road closed in Leon Valley

Bandera Road shut down between Grissom, Huebner roads

SAN ANTONIO – A major traffic accident late Monday afternoon triggered a natural gas leak that prompted the closure of Bandera Road in Leon Valley.

Sky 12 showed a car that appeared to have crashed into a natural gas main around 5:45 p.m. near Bandera and Poss roads.

The leak prompted the closure of Bandera Road between Grissom and Huebner roads and the evacuation of an apartment complex and some businesses.

Police and fire officials are working on restoring traffic.

Leon Valley Fire Chief Luis Valdez said that the "gas line is temporarily plugged and a permanent fix is being worked on by CPS Energy".

The people evaucated were allowed to go back to their apartment and businesses.

No one was injured in the crash.
