SAPD investigating deadly accident likely involving police vehicle

Medical examiner identifies woman as Josephine Carter, 63

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a deadly crash that appears to have involved one of their own.

Josephine Carter, 63, was hit and killed by a car while walking near her Northeast Side home at the intersection of Crainwood Street and Fountainwood Drive. The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

At the scene, it appeared that a San Antonio police patrol car was involved. However, officers would not release any details.

A supervisor referred KSAT 12 to SAPD's public information office for further details. That office was closed for the Fourth of July holiday.

Staff members are expected back in that office Wednesday morning.
