1 killed, 1 injured in Highway 281 rollover

Honda Civic speeding prior to crash near East Sonterra Boulevard, police say

SAN ANTONIO – One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a one-vehicle rollover early Friday on the city's North Side.

Police said the driver of a Honda Civic was speeding around 2:30 a.m. on Highway 281 South in the slow lane of traffic when he changed lanes abruptly across all lanes of traffic and cut off another vehicle.

The Honda went into a center grass median, broke through the center cable barrier and rolled over into the northbound lanes near East Sonterra Boulevard, police said.

A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.

Neither victims were wearing seat belts, police said.
