SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department has identified the man killed in a truck crash with an 18-wheeler on the Northeast Side Monday night.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on I-10 West near Loop 1604.

According to police, Gerardo Martinez Ortiz, 51, died after the truck he was driving was hit by an 18-wheeler that could not slow in time.
The 18-wheeler ended up hitting the truck ahead of it, pushing it into the back of another vehicle.
Martinez Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger inside the vehicle was taken to an area hospital.
It’s unclear if charges will be filed as a result of the crash.
Several westbound lanes of I-10 were closed as the investigation continued.
