Woman, 97, killed in crash on West Side

Isabel Martinez Muniz killed, 2 others injured

SAN ANTONIO – A 97-year-old woman is dead and two other women are hospitalized following a vehicle crash with a pickup truck late Thursday night.

The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Ruiz Street and North General McMullen on the city's West Side.

According to police, three women were in a red 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage that attempted to make a left-hand turn on a blinking yellow light when they were hit on the side by a red 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup truck that had a green light.

Police said Isabel Martinez Muniz, the front passenger inside the Mitsubishi, was taken to University Hospital, where she later died. The other two women, including the driver, were taken to the same hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.

SAPD said no charges are expected to be filed but the case remains under investigation.
