Woman stands in front of truck while carrying 2-year-old, both knocked over, police say

SAPD: Woman told man she wasn't going to let him leave

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a woman stepped into the path of a truck while carrying her 2-year-old child, causing them both to be hit early Tuesday morning. 

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 100 block of H Street, not far from South Walters Street on the city's East Side.

According to police, the woman told the man she wasn't going to let him leave and was going to stand behind his truck to prevent him from leaving the driveway. The man began to back out of the driveway when the woman, while carrying a 2-year-old boy, stepped into the path of the truck and they were both knocked to the ground.

Police said the woman claimed to have been run over by one of the wheels. 

The man initially ran away but was found at another location, police said.

The 36-year-old man, 27-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child were taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Their names were not released.

The case remains under investigation.
