Trailer’s tires caught fire due to a malfunction, city says

SAN ANTONIO – Cleanup by emergency crews has officially finished after an 18-wheeler caught fire on Interstate 10 between Converse and Seguin on Wednesday afternoon.

The city of Cibolo said around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday a disabled 18-wheeler was stopped on westbound I-10 just south of Santa Clara Road when the trailer’s tires caught fire due to a malfunction.

The fire engulfed the trailer and caused traffic to come to a standstill in both directions, the city said.

The Texas Department of Transportation said cleanup finished early Thursday, however, if you’re traveling through the area to also be on the lookout for some construction.

No fatalities were reported.
