Driver killed crashing into stalled 18-wheeler identified

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio police department identified the name of the person killed in a vehicle accident on the city's West Side late Saturday night.

Ines Arnoldo Sanchez, 49, died after he crashed into a stalled 18-wheeler that was reversing the trailer into a driveway near Kirk Place and Southwest 21st Street.

Police said Sanchez was driving a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound in the 1100 block of W, Kirk Place. Witnesses told police they saw Sanchez run his vehicle into the side of the trailer, failing to apply his brakes.

Police said the driver of the 18-wheeler took measures to alert other drivers to the presence of the vehicle by directing traffic with a flashlight.

No charges are pending.

A man was killed late Saturday night after he crashed into a stalled 18-wheeler on San Antonio's West Side. 

According to San Antonio police, the driver of an 18-wheeler was reversing the trailer into a driveway when the truck stalled, blocking the entire street near Kirk Place and Southwest 21st Street.

A pickup truck traveling on Kirk Place then crashed into the trailer, police said, at a high rate of speed. The pickup truck went underneath the trailer, killing the driver instantly. 

Police said the trailer was transporting toilet paper so the crash posed no other threats.
