SAN ANTONIO – A driver is dead, killed in a collision with a utility pole on the city's North Side overnight, San Antonio police said Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. at the intersection of East Ramsey and San Pedro Road, found not far from North Star Mall.
According to police, the driver was speeding down East Ramsey and had run a red light at San Pedro. The driver lost control of the vehicle, went up the sidewalk and spun, hitting the utility pole.
The collision took out power in the area for roughly 15 minutes, police said.
The driver died at the scene. His name is not known.
