Driver killed in wreck on Southwest Side identified

Accident occurred just after 6 a.m. near Watson Road, Somerset Rd

A man was killed Monday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the city's Southwest Side, San Antonio police said.

The accident occurred just after 6 a.m. near Watson Road and Somerset Road.

Police said a truck pulling a trailer was traveling around a curve westbound when a witness reported seeing the trailer swinging.

The trailer became disconnected and hit a black pickup truck, police said. The truck carrying the trailer hit a second red pickup heading eastbound. 

The driver of the black pickup truck, a man in his 40s died at the scene, police said. The other two drivers suffered minor injuries.

Watson Road was closed early Monday as a result of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
