Man cut from vehicle after high-speed crash near Somerset, deputies say

Incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Loop 1604 by Somerset Road

SAN ANTONIO – A man trapped inside his vehicle following a high-speed crash overnight had to be rescued by emergency crews, authorities said Friday.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Loop 1604 near Somerset Road.

According to deputies, a man driving a Ford sedan at a high-rate of speed lost control of the vehicle and wrapped it around a traffic light.

The driver trapped was extracted by the Somerset fire department. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center for his injuries.

Both the Somerset police department and fire department along with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene. 

At this time it is unclear if alcohol played a factor in the crash. The man's name and age are not currently known. The investigation is ongoing.
