SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police motorcycle officer was injured in a crash Friday on the city's South Side.
According to Sgt. James Perdue, an accident investigator, the motorcycle officer was looking for speeders in a school zone on Pleasanton Road near Formosa around 8 a.m. when his bike collided with a car.
"(He) was in pursuit of a violator, and during the process of that, a car changed lanes and clipped him," Perdue said. "He went down in the intersection."
The officer was taken to Baptist Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
"He's got some road rash, a gash, a cut on his hand and he's bumped up pretty badly. But he's going to be just fine," Perdue said.
A woman who was driving the car was badly shaken up, but didn't appear to be hurt.
Perdue said the crash is under investigation, but it doesn't appear that the car driver will be cited.
He said at the time of the crash, the officer was going after a different driver at the time, not the one involved in the accident.
