Suspected drunk driver causes 3-car accident, police say

Accident happened just after midnight on San Pedro Ave

SAN ANTONIO – A suspected drunk driver caused a three-car accident sending two men to the hospital overnight, San Antonio police said Friday.

The accident happened just after midnight on San Pedro Avenue at the intersection with West Mulberry Street just north of downtown.

According to police, the accident started with the running of a red light. A camero heading northbound went through the intersection hitting a car with a green light -- before both hit a third car.

The third car drove into a fence some 70 feet away, police said.

The two victims were taken to area hospitals for their injuries. Their conditions are not currently known.

The driver of the camero that ran the red light was arrested on suspected drunk driving. The name of the driver is not currently known.
