The victim has been identified as Tara Jane Wood, 35, of New Braunfels.

A woman trying to cross Interstate 35 on Tuesday was hit and killed by a driver who took off after the crash, police said.
The woman’s name has not been released.
She was hit just before 10:55 a.m. in the 300 block of I-35 south, according to a news release from the New Braunfels Police Department.
Officers, along with first-responders from the New Braunfels Fire Department, found the woman unconscious and not breathing, lying in the road, investigators said.

The victim was pronounced dead at Resolute Health Hospital.         Â
The southbound lanes of I-35 were closed for about an hour as police investigated the hit-and-run.  Â

Initial results indicate the woman trying to cross the highway made it part of the way before she was hit by a vehicle.   Â

Anyone with information is asked to contact New Braunfels police or Comal County Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest or an indictment.
