SAN ANTONIO – A woman was killed late Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash on the city's Northwest Side.
The medical examiner identified the woman as 32-year-old Lauren Brooks Leija.
Police said the driver of a Ford Ranger, Gabriel Robert Boudreau, 39, was speeding with a blown-out front tire around 11:30 p.m. when he rear-ended a Honda Civic on North Loop 1604 West near Bandera Road.
The impact caused Leija to lose control of her car, which jumped a curb and ended up in a bank parking lot, police said.
Leija was taken to University Hospital, where she died.
The Ranger veered left and struck the side of an 18-wheeler, police said.
Boudreau was driving with the blown-out tire for nearly six miles, police said.
A police report said Boudreau "made several bizarre statements" to officers, but wasn't determined to be intoxicated.
Boudreau was arrested on a manslaughter charge.
