Two women arrested for burning of man on southeast side

Two arrest have been made in the death of 84-year-old Manuel Gomez Mendez Jr., whose body was found burning in a ditch along Rigsby Avenue back in March. Police say he was bound, duct-taped and wrapped in a jacket and shower curtain. Now, 43-year-old Leidy Guadalupe Hernandez faces capital murder and aggravated robbery charges, joining 23-year-old Ulani Mable Nunes, arrested earlier on the same counts. Surveillance video and phone records tied both women to Mendez's home and to the spot where he was found, and investigators say one of them confessed to a plan to kill him and take his money.
