SAN ANTONIO –  A line of showers and thunderstorms moved through the San Antonio area overnight.

Rain will continue to move eastward throughout the morning commute, bringing with it both strong wind and the possibility of hail, KSAT 12 meteorologist Mike Osterhage said early Thursday.

Later today will be mostly sunny, windy, and 71°. Expect cooler temperatures tonight, Osterhage said.

KSAT 12 meteorologist Adam Caskey said a cold front dropped into South Texas overnight giving us the possibility of thunderstorms. Otherwise, we are to expect plenty of sunshine tomorrow with a morning low in the mid 50s and an afternoon high in the lower 70s. Also, you'll notice the strong wind tonight but especially later today as it picks up to 15-20+ mph.

The National Weather Service says scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to move toward the east. The storms will produce occasional lightning and small hail with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour. Moderate rain with rainfall totals up to half an inch are possible.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 3 a.m. for Fayette, Bastrop, Central Caldwell, Southeastern Travis, northeastern Gonzales, and Lee counties.
