Wednesday's weather forecast: Wet, cool

Sunshine returns Thursday; milder temperatures to make comeback

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT12 meteorologist Mike Osterhage says to expect showers and storms on Wednesday as they continue to move north through the area. Cool temperatures are also in the forecast today.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and warmer. Temps will also be warm on Saturday, and a bit cooler Sunday, Osterhage said.

The San Antonio area has been in a fairly active upper-level pattern across the south-central Texas region over the last several days.

Several upper-level disturbances have passed just north of the area,  causing some areas in the Hill Country to experience some strong storms.

The rain gauge at San Antonio Airport has registered more than 2.2 inches of precipitation over the last 72 hours. But some areas have received much higher rainfall totals.

Gloomy skies, cooler temperatures, scattered showers and storms will remain for at least one more day as another upper disturbance moves into New Mexico.

As long as the low pressure system remains behind the San Antonio area, rain will remain in the area. The forecast calls for the low to eventually kick up to the northeast by Wednesday evening, and the rain will slowly move out and sunshine will return by Thursday morning.

While this occurs, temperatures will begin to get milder, with lows in the 50s and 60s to highs in the lower to mid-70s on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Another upper-level disturbance will ride down for the first half of the weekend and will cool temperatures slightly back into the 60s for Sunday and Monday. The disturbance may trigger a few isolated
showers Saturday morning, but nothing severe or widespread is expected.

On Monday morning, we'll see temperatures dip into the upper 30s in San Antonio with clear skies.
