Flash flood warning for Hays, Guadalupe, Comal counties until 5:30 p.m.

SAN ANTONIO – The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for south central Hays County, north central Guadalupe County and southeastern Comal County.

Some locations that will experience flooding include New Braunfels, San Marcos, Staples, Geronimo, Zorn, Hunter, Freiheit, Gruene, Redwood and New Braunfels Regional Airport. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area through 4 p.m., with isolated 5-inch totals possible.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
