New system to watch in the tropics

After Harvey & Potential Tropical Cyclone 10 another system is brewing

While Tropical Storm Harvey still trudges past Texas and towards Louisiana and Potential Tropical Cyclone 10 scrapes the East coast- there is another system with good chances to develop off of the coast of Africa. The National Hurricane system says Invest 93-L is an area of showers and thunderstorms associated with a low pressure near the Cabo Verde islands that is showing better signs of organization.

Looking ahead, the environment Invest 93-L will be traveling through will be conducive for development with low shear and warm sea surface temperatures. This system is likely to become a Tropical Depression on Thursday or Friday over the Eastern Atlantic.

Invest 93-L is forecasted to move generally West-Northwest at 15 to 20 mph over the next several days. Heavy rain is possible over the Cabo Verde Islands.

The NHC places a 70% chance on Invest 93-L's formation into a tropical depression or storm over the next 48 hours, and a 90% chance on its formation potential over the next 5 days.
