Consulate assisting Mexican nationals struggling after Harvey

Consulate provides necessary documents for people to prove legal status

SAN ANTONIO – The Mexican Consulate has been helping with Harvey relief efforts, assisting Mexican nationals in Texas communities struggling after the storm.

The consulate is making sure people have the necessary documents to prove their legal status.

“One of the first things we can do in terms of protection is precisely that — provide identification to the people in our community,” said Reyna Torres Mendivil, Mexican consul general.

Mendivil said the consulate is organizing, visiting shelters and working in connection with local authorities to help out in any way they can.
