Cloudy mornings, warm afternoons ahead for the rest of the week

SAN ANTONIO - We'll be in a very quiet weather pattern for the rest of the work and school week.

Surface high pressure will continue to send us a south wind, keeping dew points elevated. Further up in the atmosphere, upper-level high pressure sliding over Texas will keep rain chances very low through Friday. In fact, rain chances each afternoon will be limited to the Coastal Plain, where an afternoon shower will be possible.

Wednesday: Expect a mix of sun and clouds Wednesday afternoon, with high temperatures climbing into the upper-80s and low-90s. A stray afternoon shower will be possible southeast of San Antonio.

Wednesday night: After clearing out Wednesday evening, skies will fill back in with low clouds by dawn on Thursday. Low temperatures will fall to the mid-70s.

Thursday: After a cloudy start to the day, we'll see more sun Thursday afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny, with high temperatures back near 90 degrees.

Thursday night: Expect another cloudy night on Thursday, with low temperatures falling to the mid-70s. Another round of patchy fog will also be likely.

Friday: Low morning clouds Friday will give way to a mix of sun and clouds by Friday afternoon. Afternoon high temperatures will be back in the upper-80s and low-90s. The overwhelming majority of high school football games on Friday evening will be rain-free, but a few showers will be possible closer to the coast.

By the coming weekend, we'll see a little shift in the weather pattern. This will allow for a few additional showers and thunderstorms to pop up in the afternoon hours.
